The Endbell
The endbell houses the bearings and
the brushes. It positions the
brushes so that they line up with the
commutator, and it supports one end of the
armature. It also provides a mount
for the brush springs, and a place
to mount the power wires to the motor.

A view inside the endbell
The commutator rides between the brushes, forcing them apart. The
brush springs press the brushes inwards, causing them to make contact with
the commutator.

An external view of the endbell
This view shows the end of the motor, showing the endbell mounted on a
complete motor.
